Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (English: Never Say Goodbye) is a 2006 Hindi film directed by Karan Johar. It stars Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji and Preity Zinta in the lead roles. The film explores themes of love, marriage, relationships and their dynamics with career ambitions. The movie was described to be a "classic romantic drama" that would take audiences on an emotional journey while exposing them to different perspectives about relationships in Indian society. Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna released worldwide on 18 November 2006 at 12 noon in India across 2900 screens worldwide through Yash Raj Films. The film was later released in the US in July 2007. The film tells the story of six people connected by an elevator in a high-rise building in Mumbai, India. Raj (Amitabh Bachchan) has lost his wife, Roshni (Preity Zinta), two years before to an accident at work. He has since dedicated himself to his job and doesn't want to get hurt again. He finds it difficult to make the right decisions regarding love and chooses not to be affected by it; instead, he finds refuge in work and alcohol. At the same time, hasan (Shah Rukh Khan) is trying to make up for his past deeds, but he cannot do so. He is engaged to Emily (Rani Mukerji), but she breaks up with him on the eve of their wedding. For years he has been engaged to Varsha (Neha Dhupia), but his father's death and his own selfishness have prevented their marriage. He accepts Roshni's death as an act of God, and is only now able to be with Emily after three years. Three months before Aman changes everything when he meets Varsha again at one of his father's memorials. She has come to India for her father's funeral. He realises that his life has been merely a self-absorbed waiting game, and he finally takes charge of choosing what he wants. He is able to move on with his life and fall in love with Varsha again. As the story unfolds, we see that all the characters struggle with their lives and relationships in different ways: The film is said to be inspired by the love life of renowned Indian actress Reema Lagoo alive at present. This was the first time when Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan have worked in a Karan Johar film. To keep in line with the theme of love, the female lead roles in this film are based on Shakti Kapoor's three daughters, Bindiya, Riddhi and Ritika. The director had shot an ad with them for his earlier movie Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and hence decided to work on a similar theme and base the story on them. Shahrukh and Salman play themselves as actors who die due to an accident at work. However Amitabh Bachchan dies due to a health issue that arose out of his heavy drinking. cfa1e77820
